The youth parliamentary representative Mukobwa Justine, has requested the youth to resist genocide ideology passed on to them by some parents at home.

The young parliamentarian made the appeal last week during the commemoration of youth killed in 1994 genocide against the Tutsi held in Mugina sector of Kamonyi district where she stressed that remembrance is the responsibility of every Rwandan as a way of putting in perspective the history of bad governance the country went through to avoid reoccurrence.

“In the past, the leadership would spread racial discrimination among Rwandans where Tutsis were deprived of their rights in the country. Such evil teachings full of genocide ideology led to the massacring of more than one million innocent Tutsi victims in 1994,”she said.

Mukobwa requested the youth to keep away from whoever intends to lead them into divisionism especially resisting dogmatic thoughts of some parents sowing hatred among children.

The mayor of Kamonyi district, Aimable Udahemuka, said that the strength of youth can lead to destroy if badly used or construct if used properly.

“You are the strength of the nation.We expect good deeds from you,” he said.

Udahemuka asked the youth to avoid genocide ideology and promote unsuspicious socialization.

The remembrance ceremony was preceded by the walk to remember and laying of wreaths at Mugina memorial where Tutsi victims of 1994 genocide are buried.
